At J & D Food Services, we are very proud of our past. Linda Lee and Wendy Wong first purchased J&D Trading in 1989 and began operating from a small warehouse in South Edmonton. Over 22 years later, we have expanded from 5,000 square feet to over 100,000 square feet in both Edmonton and Calgary—serving all quadrants in the province of Alberta.
What first began as a small warehouse with a handful of delivery trucks has evolved into one of western Canada’s best food services companies
YIn 1995, Red Seal Chef, Peter Yim joined the team and we soon expanded our product line by adding meat processing and later live seafood and fresh produce..
In 2000, Evan Chan joined the J & D family bringing advancements in information technology to the forefront for us. Our technological advancements have made it easier for our customers to order, to ensure heightened order accuracy and shorter turn around time for delivery.
In 2007, the next generation of J & D family members joined the team—comprised of Carol Chan, Kevin Wong and Adrian Yim. Their backgrounds in engineering, restaurant leadership and systems development have given J & D Food Services a fresh perspective on our overall development.
In 2009, we acquired ISO 22000 Status and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) compliance for food safety and quality certifications. We have also increased our purchasing power and added a new market group to our organization. We have formed a key strategic alliance with Kwong Fung Foods and Midland Foods which has increased our distribution network for our customers
As we look forward to the future, we are excited about our plans to enhance our product lines to not only include Asian fare but also a wider variety of products designed for restaurants and customers of all nationalities and tastes.
